A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/16 inches (2.70 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Per fess Sanguine and Argent, on a pine tree a cross couped all counterchanged. Attached below and to the sides of the shield a Silver scroll inscribed UT ITERUM SERVIAS in Maroon letters.
The shield is in the colors of the Medical Corps. The cross symbolizes the nature of the Battalion and the pine tree the location at which it was made active. The motto translates to That You May Serve Again.
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 46th Medical Battalion (Armored) on 12 February 1942. It was redesignated for the 46th Armored Medical Battalion on 27 July 1954. The insignia was redesignated for the 46th Medical Battalion on 6 March 1958.
